Fish Kiss & Tell
Wow - we're here. I can't believe it! A few months ago we had just finished our first wholesale tradeshow and were overwhelmed with the response. One contact that reached out to us was none other than The Grommet. In case you're not familiar, The Grommet is a website that promotes innovative products and brands - it's basically one of the best places to shop if you're looking for a unique gift for someone. A couple years ago I attended a business lecture at the University of Colorado where Co-Founder and CEO of The Grommet Jules Pieri spoke. Little did I know Fish Kiss® would be featured on her website one day.
Yesterday was exciting . . . why, you might ask? Well, it all started with a little E-mail Etsy sent me in the afternoon.
"Kudos!" It read, "One of your listings is getting a lot of views!"
I scrolled down to see where it was coming from, and low and behold, there it was . . . BuzzFeed.com! I think I literally screamed.
The article was titled:
with my Texas Baby Knot Hat featured as #8.
So, naturally, I called family and friends, wrote the author of the article to thank her, posted on social media, and am now writing this blog. I was so pleased to see that a bunch of other Etsy artisans were featured as well, (yay, go small business)! Let's just say, I love surprises like this and feel so flattered to be featured by a well-known website.
Till next time . . .
I was so excited to see the sample of the Colorado fabric today! Now I just need to figure out what silhouettes to put this on . . . any ideas?
Surprise, surprise . . . I love aquariums . . . and fish. At my grandparents' retirement home there is a giant aquarium complete with an aspen tree backdrop, (of course, because we live in Colorado). I "met" this one fish that was absolutely gorgeous - his color, his sheen, but the thing I loved most about him was his GINORMOUS, (pretty sure that's not a word but it should be), EYEBALLS! They were literally the size of a ping pong ball! So, I affectionately named this big guy Ping. Ping was clearly the most captivating fish in the tank for both his size and his bright coral color. I think some of the mischievous angel fish resented Ping because I saw one take a nip at his tail. Poor Ping, I wish I could take you home with me. Until then, I'll just have to watch you through the retirement home glass.
Eeeek! I'm so excited - I just received notice Fish Kiss will be a part of the Firefly Handmade Spring Market. I've been following this market for a while now, (even before Fish Kiss), and I've been so impressed by all the unique products featured as well as their outreach. So, if you happen to be a Coloradan, swing by and say hello!

The Houston Nutcracker Holiday Show was a big success this past year. Below are some pictures from the event.
